Ok, stop right there

If you have come to this page looking for advice on the Carling Cup games tonight then forget it.
This competition is a total graveyard for punters. People get their fingers burnt year after year on it but still go back for more......Well not yours truly, I learnt my lesson long ago.

The tournament is totally abused by most clubs who play weakened sides to suit their own weird agendas and some of the results over the years have been truly laughable. It used to just be the big clubs with clogged fixture lists that did it but now everyone is in on the act!....The competition has become devalued and should be scrapped in my opinion...Take my advice and STAY AWAY from it.
Regarding tonight's Champions League Qualifying games I'm afraid I see no stand out betting opportunities.

No wonder he's laughing!

This man was pictured at 3.22pm today as he heard the 3rd goal had just gone in at New Lawn to clinch his 'over 2.5' bet he'd had after reading this site today.

He later said he had never landed a bet of this type in under a quarter of a game before.
He also added that he planned to spend some of his winnings on financing legal action against his dentist.
Bank jumps by 16.80 points to 1,072.80.

Stats update:- We have had 19 bets, with 11 winning, giving a current strike rate of around 57%...... The amount staked to get us the 72.80 profit so far has been 446.14 points, giving a current return of just over 16% on turnover after commission.

Let's see that onion bag bulging!

Forest Green take on Torquay today in the Blue Square Premiership at the New Lawn and it should be a game that produces goals. The home side's last 3 matches have seen the net bulge 11 times whilst their visitor's last 3 games have produced 12 goals. This points to two sides who like to get forward and I see a good probability of at least 3 going in today.
This league is full of goals at the moment...the 44 games played have produced 127 so far at an average of 2.89 a game, whilst 63% of the matches have been over 2.5.
I managed to get 1.82 on Over 2.5 goals and I think this is a more than fair price seeing as on the evidence shown so far this season, both teams are capable of scoring and conceding plenty. The bet is 2% of bank (21.12).

You have to feel for Tottenham

Once again, absolutely no luck for them at Old Trafford. I don't regret laying Man U at all......on another day that would have been a winning bet but lady luck smiled on Ferguson's outfit today for sure.
Never mind....it was paid for by the winning bet on the other game at Boro and in fact, a tiny profit was recorded here on the day!

Stats update:- We have had 18 bets, with 10 winning, giving a current strike rate of around 55%...... The amount staked to get us the 56.00 profit so far has been 425.02 points, giving a current return of just over 13% on turnover.

Two lays today

It's the North East derby tomorrow when Middlesborough take on Newcastle at The Riverside. Boro got all 3 points at Craven Cottage last week courtesy of a strange decision by a linesman who missed a perfectly good Fulham goal late on whilst the 'Toon' fought out a 0-0 with Villa in a tight game at St James Park. A lot of people would find this a difficult game to call but for me, it has to be a Lay of Middlesbrough. Sam Allardyce has the luxury of having all 4 of his strikers fit and who ever he picks from Martins, Viduka, Owen and Ameobi will be too much for the home defence that is still missing Huth and Pogatetz. I would be very suprised if Southgate's team won this one and I'll be laying them to lose 2% of the bank (21.11) at 2.88 at Betdaq...this means taking a bet of 11.23 on them.

Manchester United will want nothing less than all three points when they meet Tottenham at Old Trafford, while under pressure Spurs manager Martin Jol would dearly love to get something from the game. And on their day, if firing on all cylinders, they are certainly capable of doing so....... Ferguson's side will be giving it their all but still have their two best players, Ronaldo and Rooney missing, and for that reason, I think the 1.58 is a tad short and suggest a Lay of Man U to lose 1% of the bank (10.55 points)....therefore, we will accept a bet of 18.12 on them.

It all evens out

After suffering late goals against us in the last couple of weeks it was great to see one go for us at Villa Park to land a nice maximum bet....If it wasn't for my knees I'd have jumped for joy!
The other maximum bet was never in doubt as Liverpool eased past Sunderland earlier in the day.....The wins netted us 58.51 points on the day after commission, putting the site 55.65 points ahead after two weeks of the season.

For the statistically minded, after the first two weeks of the season, we have had 16 bets, with 9 winning, giving a current strike rate of around 56%...... The amount staked to get us the 55.65 profit so far has been 393.36 points, giving a current return of just over 14% on turnover.

Two maximum bets in the Premiership

It has been well documented on this blog how I feel about both Liverpool and Sunderland. I believe there will be a huge points gap between them come the end of the season and I cannot see past a Liverpool victory at the Stadium of Light. The Black Cats can huff and puff as much as they like but I'm afraid class will be telling here. I will be staking 4% of the bank (39.88 points) at the 1.68 on offer at Betdaq.

Aston Villa look like a side who won't be conceding a lot of goals this season. Watching them at Newcastle I was impressed by their work rate, especially their ability to close down and to be honest, they could well have won the game. They also gave a good account of themselves against Liverpool and were unlucky to lose to a late free-kick. O'Neill looks to be getting it right for them this season. I think they take a big drop down in class when they entertain Fulham at Villa Park this weekend and I can only see one result. Fulham look nothing more than average to me and their most dangerous player, Brian McBride is now sidelined, so the 1.85 on the Asian Handicap (-0.5) at Betdaq with 2% commission is where our first bet goes.....I am very confident so the stake is again, 4% of bank (39.88 points).

International Football bores me to death

I don't meet many people who, like myself, can honestly say that they hate International football...But I genuinely do and always have........it leaves me cold. I detest the Jingoism and Nationalistic tub-thumping that comes with it and to be honest, I find it about as stimulating as watching wood warp. You can keep it my loyal readers.
If you are here looking for my bets on the midweek Internationals I'm afraid you will be disappointed....I don't do country v country........but do look in towards the end of the week when I will be having two maximum bets in the Premiership that I'm VERY confident about.

Another late equaliser

Once again my bet gets demolished by a late, late equaliser. I knew it was going to happen as soon as Exeter missed a sitter at the start of the second half that would have made it 2-0... I doubt much hurts more in this game than your side being unable to hang onto their slender lead for a tiny while longer. Had it with Birmingham v Sunderland the other night too.
Never mind, these things tend to even out over a season.........the account falls slightly back into the red I'm afraid. But remember, it's a marathon, not a sprint.

Could be getting the beers in...this looks like a decent bet

I have just been to Betdaq and backed Exeter to beat York tonight at 2.09 on the Asian Handicap -0.5..... The bet will only cost me 2% in commission if it obliges too.
I see this as a good bit of business because the home side have won both their games so far scoring 6 and conceding 1 whilst their visitors from oop North have lost both of theirs, scoring 4 and conceding 6. I believe the true price, based purely on those stats should be around 1.9 myself. The stake will be 2% of the bank (20.35 points).

The cigars are out here at TQ Towers.

What an excellent day....Manchester City fell over the line at a great price in the big derby to give us our biggest single win on a game so far in the 8 day old season (35.56 points after tax) and the lay of Chelsea netted 16.63 points after stoppages.
The total winnings on the day were 52.19 points which puts the account in the black for the first time this season.....there will be no going back from here....only forward!

The big one at Anfield

The first' Big Game' of the season is here today...a mouth watering clash between Liverpool and Chelsea. Benitez's side took all 3 points at Villa Park last week thanks to a late winner from Gerrard, whilst their visitors have come from behind in both their games (against Birmingham and Reading) to obtain maximum points.
I genuinely believe that this could be Liverpool's year in the title race and they know full well that they have to win games against others in the 'Big 4' to keep that dream going.
I would be very suprised if Mourinho's men were to take all 3 points here and for that reason I will be laying Chelsea at 3.25 at Betdaq with 4% of the bank (38.61)....this means we take a stake of 17.16 points on them.

Manchester City have taken on a new lease of life under Sven and although the two sides they have beaten so far have not been exactly top drawer, their confidence will be high......United will be without arguably their two best players in Rooney and Ronaldo and are still winless after two games. Therefore, the 4.8 available at Betdaq with 3% commission for the City win is good value and we'll be taking it for 1% of the bank (9.65 points)

What a dreadful game

Given a choice of chewing razor blades or watching a re-run of Newcastle v Villa, I'm afraid it would be the oral bloodbath for me every time.....That was one of the very worst 0-0's I've ever had the misfortune to sit through.
Sadly, I fancy there are plenty more of these snoozefests still to come from the Premiership this season......especially when so many sides get 10 behind the ball the second they lose possession.
Unfortunately, the result also meant that the day's earlier profits were all but wiped out.

Get on the Toon

Big Sam will be going places with Newcastle in my opinion and I don't really see Villa getting anything at St James park in the 5.15 kick off.
The price is a nice 2.08 at Betdaq (3% com) and the bet is 2% (19.69 points).
